Microsoft Teams and Google Chat
Microsoft Teams and Google Chat are built and in final testing. Here's how Pointd Pal works there, and what's different from Slack.
Both run the same Pointd Pal as Slack: your own point name and emoji, the visible allowance, company values, rewards your admins approve, opt-in celebrations, the weekly digest, and the admin panel with inclusivity analytics. They're on the same Free and Pro plans, at the same prices.
Each install is its own Pointd Pal workspace. A company that uses Slack and Teams gets two, each with its own scores, rewards, settings and bill.
Microsoft Teams Coming soon
Giving recognition
@name ++ for <reason>in channels and group chats, the same as in Slack. The bot doesn't need to be mentioned.- Give points from any message's menu, with the author already picked.
- Several people at once, and
#valuetags in the reason.
Your home
A personal chat with Pointd Pal is the home: your points, what you have left to give, your balance and rewards, your celebration dates, and the opt-out switch. Its command menu offers home, score, top and help.
For admins
Admins sign in to the admin panel with Microsoft. Global and Teams administrators get in, and so does the person who added Pointd Pal.
What's different from Slack
- Teams doesn't tell apps about reactions on other people's messages, so giving by reaction is Slack-only.
- When Pointd Pal is added to a team, the team owner approves letting it read that team's channel messages, so it can notice recognitions. Messages that aren't recognitions are not stored.
- Pointd Pal posts digests and celebrations only in the channel an admin picks, and sends private messages only to people who have added the app themselves.
Google Chat Coming soon
Giving recognition
- Mention the bot:
@Pointd Pal @name ++ for <reason>. - Or use the command:
/pp @name ++ for <reason>. - Or pick Give a point from any message's menu, with the author already picked.
Your home
Pointd Pal's Home tab in Google Chat shows your points, what you have left to give, your balance and rewards, your celebration dates, and the opt-out switch.
For admins
Admins sign in to the admin panel with Google, using their Workspace account. Workspace admins get in; personal Gmail accounts are turned away.
What's different from Slack
- Google Chat only shows apps the messages that mention them, so people address the bot instead of typing a plain ++. Pointd Pal never reads the rest of the conversation.
- There is no giving by reaction and no group mentions; the message action covers the quick thank-you.
- A Workspace admin installing Pointd Pal for the organization is the smoothest start: everyone gets the app and its Home tab at once.
