Opt-in, always
Some people love a birthday shout-out. Others would rather nobody knew. Pointd Pal only celebrates people who chose to be celebrated:
- Each person adds their own dates and opts in from the App Home tab.
- Birthdays are stored as a month and a day. There’s no year, so there’s no age.
- Admins turn celebrations on for the workspace and choose the channel.
- Admins can import birthdays and start dates from a CSV file in the admin panel. Imported dates still aren’t posted until each person opts in.
What gets posted
Once a day, in the workspace’s time zone, the bot posts that day’s birthdays and work anniversaries to the celebrations channel.
Everyone also has a “Pointd Pal day”: the anniversary of the first time they were recognized. It shows on their App Home tab, and a recognition on that day says so in the reply.
Celebrations are part of the Pro plan.
